Daughter of Smoke & Bone (#1) by Laini Taylor

Around the world, black hand prints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal other-worldly war.

  1. Karou is raised by Brimstone twice! once from the cradle, even. An innocent heart, artistic talent, and chimera roots to boot. So sad that the seraphim (angels) are the oppressors in this love-to-hate historical relationship. What a wonderful story of love that crosses the boundaries between enemies/worlds and I am very left... out... DANGIT!!! the story was very detailed and very thorough with the background stories of how Karou came to be human lingering on the outskirts of Brimstone's office. The reunion is very heart-breaking, and I am stuck here without the sequel!!!! GAH!!! Must remedy that as quickly as possible! This was a true treat to read. :)
